Wonder Wednesday 4

Remember how we used to dip
Our fingers in melted wax?
Now watching candles burn
Reminds me of all the good
Times that we shared.
But I am not like the wax,
That melts away and
Becomes less and less
Until one day
You realize there is nothing left
To burn

Ella's prompt for Wonder Wednesday was wax. To join in or read the other contributions go here.

You have displayed emotions beautifully in this piece !!!

Ah, an anti-simile : how refreshing. You are not a candle, not a child's toy, not just emptying yourself and burning out what is of value. Nicely said. a good surprise.

I love the emotional pull here!
It is beautiful to read and I love how you enchanted us with wax!
Well Done
I use to make candles! I still do on occasion. I love the dance of light~

Brilliant, Laura, like a good teaching tool. You start with the known, the familiar, the shared experience, then offer a truth and a lesson. I admire your skillfulness.

I love this, and I love candles....your closing lines end the poem so well.

Oh, this is so poignant. I do remember how I used to dip my fingers in that melted wax. What fun that was! Your ending was sad....but good!

You brought back memories for me of childhood times, when I was fascinated by candles and the melting wax...Lovely words:)

It drips sadness and yet a resignation to a future that may not happen. Interesting emotions.
