Friends

I used to ask myself
What makes up a friend
Until I met you
And definitions
And meanings
Ceased to be important

The prompt this week at Carry On Tuesday is "What is a friend?". To join in or read the other contributions go here.

There are no definitions for true friends. You'll only realize them when you are in the doldrums and they are the only ones by you! Nice thoughts Laura!

Love this spin on the idea of a friend! Definitions somehow don't quite reflect that intangible feeling!

So true. You can't analyse these things - they just are.

If you have a true friend, you know it! No definitions needed. Smiles.

So true.
You're fortunate.

A friend is someone who sees all of your faults and loves you anyway.
I'm glad you have someone like that.
Lovely poem

That instinctive pull, beyond defining lines...you've written something utterly true.

So simple yet so deep... how can you define or put into words what friendship is. But you're right... when it's present, you know it.

Laura Maria,

The definition of a friend, will become evident very quickly. Those who stand by you and are supportive, through the good and the bad times. Of course, a friend must have a sense of humour, since laughter is a great natural medicine:)

LM, Thank you for your great comments and Blog visits:)

A friendship is more of a feeling than a description...nicely done

I love the simplicity of this. And it's true, once we have a true friend there is no definition necessary. Nicely done.

Hey there! It's been a while since the last time I wrote you something, I just wanted to make you know that I'm still here, reading you, enjoying your thoughts, it's great to read you and what else can I say?

:)

Oh, I like this Laura! You know when you find that person, don't you? Your brief poem perfectly shares the sentiment.
